In the summer of 2002, the US Army issued a competitive bid for the rehabilitation of several buildings at Fort Monmouth in New Jersey.
The Solution
As part of the contract, the successful general contractor chose to use a Summit Structures building as a temporary fitness facility. Within the 100' wide x 200' long (30.4m x 60.9m) TITAN® profile structure, the Army houses batting cages, weight training equipment and a training area for the U.S. Army Knights intercollegiate wrestling team.
The Details
Aside from the other features, this tension fabric membrane facility features a canopied main entrance, lockers plus additional storage facilities and an open flex area at one end of the building which allows for a variety of activities to occur based on the expansive 40' (12.1m) interior peak height. This Summit Structures building features DuraWeave® fabric for both the liner and exterior skin. Summit Structures helped develop a layout for both the lighting and ventilation/radiant heating system.
This multi use facility provides Fort Monmouth with an important venue with MWR activities and continues to be enjoyed by the army cadets.
